Product or Workflow Solution?

In today’s marketplace there are many software solutions that are great products. They fulfill specific needs and fill holes in our daily workflow.  But is this product the right solution?  Does our environment need more products that address specific needs, or should we be searching for service providers that view workflow holistically, and consequently wrap a solution around the workflow?  Clients shouldn’t compromise or be forced into a prescribed solution based upon a product choice.
The concept of workflow as a whole is much more complex than ever before.  With the continuation of provider’s mergers, acquisitions and attempts to reconcile disparate systems it is clear that vendors need to dig deeper into the discovery phase to figure out how to fulfill a greater need, rather than providing a boxed solution.

What needs to take place during the discovery phase is the what, when and how.  What is your biggest workflow issue?  When are you having this workflow issue?  How can we help you resolve this issue?  Any vendor that is not working through these most basic steps is allowing a product to dictate your workflow.
